JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose: To help maintain the HVAC systems throughout the district in conditions of operating excellence so that full educational use of the district facilities is always possible.
Reports to: Facility Director
Pay Rate: Based upon experience
Terms of Employment: 12 month

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- 5 years of work experience in installing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems preferred.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to read blueprints preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC, refrigeration, and basic electrical.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Specific Responsibilities:
- Operate all equipment safely and appropriately.
- Supervise and perform HVAC repair work performed in the district as needed.
- Advise Maintenance Director which repair jobs may be performed by district staff and which need to be performed by outside contractors.
- Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase and maintain the inventory of district-owned HVAC tools, equipment and supplies.
- Examine district HVAC equipment on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.
- Perform maintenance, repair and installation in connection with HVAC systems.
- Monitor software program that controls thermostats on a daily basis and troubleshoot as needed to maintain comfort within the buildings.
- Operate all equipment, including vehicles and powered equipment, safely and appropriately.
- Move furniture and equipment within the district as needed.
- Assist with all maintenance requests as needed.
- Assist in snow removal from driveways, sidewalks and parking lots, and spread material to promote melting and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Director or Superintendent.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Level 4 – Heavy Work
- Exerting 20 - 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
- Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crawling and turning.
- Requires climbing and balancing.
- Requires lifting, moving and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
