Position Title: Virtual Support Teacher
Reports To: Virtual School Coordinator and/or Superintendent Designee
Position Type: Supplemental Assignment
Number of Positions: Determined Annually Based on Enrollment and Program Needs

Position Purpose

The Virtual Support Teacher provides academic assistance and content-area support to students enrolled in the Fort Scott Tiger Virtual School. The primary role of the Virtual Support Teacher is to help students successfully navigate coursework, answer academic questions, provide instructional support when needed, and encourage student success in the virtual learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance and content-area support to virtual students in assigned subject areas.
• Respond to student questions regarding coursework, assignments, concepts, and learning activities.
• Assist students in accessing available district resources and support services.
• Maintain records of student contacts and academic support provided.
• Participate in meetings and training related to the virtual school program as requested.
• Perform other duties related to supporting student success in the virtual learning program.

Communication Expectations

• Monitor district email and assigned communication platforms regularly.
• Respond to student and family inquiries within twenty-four (24) hours during the regular school week whenever possible.
• Be available to provide timely academic support throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Current Kansas teaching license required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of assigned content area(s).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively support students in a virtual learning environment.
• Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms.

Terms of Employment

• Supplemental position for the 2026-2027 school year.
• Stipend amount to be determined.
• The number of positions assigned will be based on enrollment and program needs.
• Assignments may be based on content area, grade level, or student caseload.
